Japanese-Style!

So the first two weeks of 2008 (Tokyo Star-style) have been even more awesome than ever! We've seen the return of so many of our old faves, as well as quite a few new young faces.

With a fresh lick of paint in some areas, and a new (note-taking) cigarette machine, we're feeling brand-spanking sparkling. We've also added a new bar-lady to keep things lively behind the bar, and the ideas have been flying of how to make Tokyo even better this year. Thursday nights will hopefully soon be gaining some of their old charm, with our fave Thursday DJs keen to bring in themed nights and much much more! Stand by for some photos of the most uniquely dressed, and awesomely styled. Pull on your tartan shorts, lumo tops and wildest hairstyles!

This blogspot is sponsored by one of our fave DJ's - Destrukto.
Want to know more?
Well, he has a radio show on Monday nights at 11pm till 1am on DSTV Channel 169 Audio bouquet and 1485AM.

Why should you listen to it?
He plays all the coolest Indie, Electro, Alternative, Big Beat etc, and interviews bands and peeps!

Missed a show?
Check out Destrukto's own blogspot, on which he has about 13 of his shows up, including last week's in which he interviewed Cutout Collective, and of course, played some of their most awesome tracks (you know how much we love Cutout Collective!)

Where to go?

Why we love it?
He lists all the tracks that he's played throughout the radio show. (How many times have you wondered what that tune was and they just don't say it?!)

What else?
He does the Deconstruction parties as well.

The photos in this blog were taken by Robyn Davie, Ryan Dick (apologies!) and Craig van Winsen. Let us know what you think of them by posting a comment!

A$k Your L*cal Bar%lad^es - R*byn & K@te

Hey Tokyo Starians!
We've all seen that movie where the down-on-his-luck dude walks into a bar, orders a drink and pours out his soul to an attentive barman. We kind of like the idea, but Tokyo is often too busy for us to listen to your problems and have long chats!

However, we still believe we have loads of advice to give. Write in to us and we'll be sure to help you out! We're offering advice on everything and anything - from girls to guys, from cocktails to sex, from skin problems to hot chili problems, let us help.

Email us at:

tokyostarlive@gmail.com

The response has been phenomenal - we're already receiving letters! Here are the first few replies:

Q: Whenever I come to Tokyo I feel so horrible in the morning - please help?!
A: It is all because you didn't tip last night and karma has come back to kick you in the ass.

Q: I can't seem to pleasure my girlfriend, I think it's because I'm too small...I measured and I'm only 4cms, and all my friends say they're so much bigger. Why is this the case - why me?
A: It is all because you didn't tip last night and karma has come back to kick you in the ass.

Q: I think I may be falling in love with bouncer Mike - he's just so masculine, but has such a gentle touch when he hugs me hello. Do I have a future with him?
A: Bouncer Mike is a loving husband with 3 children, but has much love to go around - the ball is in your court.

Keep those letters coming!
